w/c Monday 1st June

We hope you have had an enjoyable half term and have enjoyed some of the sunshine. By now, you should hopefully have found a home learning routine that works for you and your family. As we have suggested previously, completing English and maths tasks in the morning before moving onto other areas of the curriculum might work well for you as this is what you are used to in school. Oak National Academy and BBC Bitesize are continuing to support your home learning and have weekly schedules of interesting lessons.

Here is this week’s Year 4 schedule for BBC Bitesize:

Check out the lessons for this week on Oak National Academy:

Oak National Academy

The English learning this week is all about character descriptions and lessons include reading different descriptions, identifying the key features of descriptions and creating your own character description. This week’s maths learning covers angles. This will allow you to revise your prior learning and reflect upon what you already know about acute and obtuse angles. You can use your knowledge to investigate angles in shapes and problem solve. In science, you can discover different uses of light. In RE, you can learn about the five pillars of Islam and find out what the Holy book of Islam is. You can also find out how to say where you live in Spanish and how to create still life art with objects that overlap!

Remember that the websites we have signposted you to previously will be continuing to add more learning opportunities. Choose the websites that work best for you!

Bright Sparks!

Bright Sparks is our Summer 2 project. We would like you to find out about electricity. Explore BBC Bitesize – watch the class clips and learner guides. Make a note of what you have learned.

Daily lessons for pupils in Wales start today on BBC Bitesize ...

Look around your home. What items can you find in your home that use electricity? Are these items essential or non-essential? What would your life be like if there was no electricity? Write a diary entry: A day without electricity. What would you do all day? How would your daily life be different? What would you eat? How would it be cooked? What would you do for entertainment? Remember: no TV or gaming!

Try the electricity crossword attached at the bottom of the page!

Please find a new Home Learning Pack (Week 2) for this week. We’ll put the answers on next week so that you can mark your learning and see how successful you have been!
