This week, the English lessons will develop your knowledge of non-chronological reports. You will explore different examples and identify their features, including the grammar and punctuation that is used for this genre, and use your learning to compose your own non-chronological report. In maths this week, you will find out more about how to calculate with decimals. This will involve developing your problem solving skills, deriving know facts, revising written methods and exploring different strategies to calculate. Have you ever wondered what static electricity is? Join in with this week to find out! In RE, you can find out what life is like in a Buddhist monastery and discover who the Dalai Lama is. You can learn how to describe the weather in Spanish this week. Finally, learn how to create an optical illusion: an impossible triangle!

On World Oceans Day, people all around our blue planet celebrate and honour our ocean, which connects us all. World Ocean Day for Schools have bought together the wonder of the ocean to our homes. They’ve got an interactive line up for you to enjoy throughout the day with live ocean films, science lesson, music performances and more. Have a look at their website to find out more:

Did you know that there are many species of dolphins that can be seen in the waters around the UK? Would you like to learn more about these sociable animals? Read the All About Dolphins attached at the bottom of this page to discover some fascinating facts.
Carry out your own research on one (or several) aquatic species. What fascinating facts can you find out about your chosen animal? Where does it live? How has it adapted to life in the water? You could create a poster, annotated drawing or information booklet all about your chosen animal. You could even create some fact cards.
Springwatch 2020
Springwatch is back! Springwatch 2020 has begun and aims to bring you inspiring stories from the natural world. You can catch-up on any episodes you’ve missed and explore the galleries of amazing, up-close images of wildlife as well as view live wildlife cameras. The new series started on 26 May and will run until 12 June. If you are interested in wildlife, you can join presenters Chris Packham, Gillian Burke and Lolo Williams at 8pm Tuesdays through to Fridays on BBC Two. The programme will broadcast from locations across the UK.
Look out of your window. What wildlife can you see? When you are enjoying exercise outside, take a moment to stop and listen and observe. What birds can you see? Do you know how to identify different birds? Click on the link below to help you:

The Ickabog Illustration Competition
It’s competition time again! J.K. Rowling (author of the Harry Potter novels) is publishing an original story, ‘The Ickabog’, online over seven weeks, but she needs your help to illustrate the story. She is inviting children to create the illustrations for her. How exciting! A new instalment of the story and illustration themes will be revealed daily so stay tuned. 34 winning illustrations will be used in a printed version of the story when it is printed in full, which is intended for November 2020. The competition is now open and entries will close at 6pm on Friday 17 July.
If you are a winner, your illustration will be features in ‘The Ickabog’ and you will receive a copy of the book signed by J.K. Rowling herself. You will also receive £500 worth of Hachette children’s books for a school or library of your choice. What a great prize!
Before you start sketching, make sure that you read the illustration instructions carefully. If you do not follow these instructions, your entry will be disqualified.

Spelling

How could you find out more about air resistance? We would like you to plan your own investigation. We have attached some ideas for possible investigations at the bottom of this page. Remember to speak to adults in your house about your ideas. They must be safe and suitable for you to do at home. Perhaps you could create a balloon buggy or a paper helicopter. How will you slow their movement down or speed it up? Apply your knowledge of friction and forces to help you.
