Remote Education Information For Parents
Thank you for supporting your child whilst they are learning at home.
Please see below an email sent at the beginning of January 2021 following the announcement of school closures and National lockdown. Attached at the bottom of this page is an information leaflet for parents: Home Learning Information for Parents January 2021, a Code of Conduct for Online Lessons and a Times Tables Rock Stars Parent Guide. If you have any questions regarding home learning, please contact the school via telephone or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are writing to inform you of our arrangements for home learning at the start of this term. With the school currently closed to most children and open only to vulnerable children and those of critical workers, the arrangements for learning from home are slightly different to those we have offered previously. We hope this email and the attached information will offer you some clear understanding of how we will continue your child's education while they are at home.
This Wednesday (6 January), each year group will be holding a Zoom session with all the children to introduce them to the home learning and explain how they will communicate with their teachers and access their learning via our school website. Years 3 and 4 will start at 9:00am and Years 5 and 6 at 9:15am. Your child's teacher will send a Zoom invitation to his/her school email address before the meeting begins. If your child does not know their email username and password, please contact his/her class teacher who will provide this for you before Wednesday morning. Attached to this email is a contact list of class teachers' individual email addresses. Please do join your child for Wednesday morning's session.
As long as teachers are well and are not in school teaching, they will respond to emails during the normal school day. If you contact teachers outside these times, teachers will get back to you the following working day. Teachers will be continuing to meet in their teams after school to plan children's learning and will also have additional meetings to attend before and after school. If children have any questions about their home learning, there will be regular Zoom catch-ups for them to talk about their learning with their teacher where possible. If you have any other queries, you can also contact the school by telephone or use the email address: email@example.com.
During Wednesday's introductory Zoom session, the teachers will share the Code of Conduct with the children, which is attached to this email. Please talk with your child about the importance of this and the need to stay safe online at all times.
All resources for learning and daily timetables, with links to online lessons, will be on our school website by Wednesday morning. Children will be able to find this in 'Kids Zone', and then by clicking on their year group folder. Invitations to live lessons will be sent to the children's email addresses. Children will be asked to email work to teachers so they can offer feedback. They could do this by taking a photograph or by sharing a typed outcome. Teachers will provide feedback via email.
Please continue to encourage your children to read at home and record this in their planner. Regular reading is hugely beneficial to children and they will be working towards earning their termly book from me. In addition, please also encourage your child to play Times Tables Rock Stars. Having rapid recall of the times tables facts really does help the children in many areas of mathematics. These are vital skills for all children to develop.
We will be reviewing our home learning provision on a weekly basis and will keep you updated. Unfortunately, we do not know when we will be welcoming all the children back to school but will continue to communicate regularly with you by email and through our school Twitter feed (@FairisleJS).
Thank you for helping your child to continue learning at home.
Take care and stay safe.
Very best wishes
